Our Directors

Rob joined 4D Workshop following 10 years with Winward Structures from 2001 to 2011. Rob became a Director of Winward Structures in 2006 and Managing Director in 2009. In addition to his managerial responsibilities, Rob led major projects including the Melbourne Convention Centre Development and Seafarer’s Bridge, Southern Cross Station Redevelopment, Freshwater Place Development, 700 Bourke St (NAB), 720 Bourke St (Medibank), 171 Collins St (BHP), Melbourne Park Eastern Plaza, Upper West Side Development and Goods Shed North. Rob previously held senior roles at Bonacci Winward and Scott Wilson Irwin Johnston.

Rob has extensive experience in conceptualising and delivering unique and challenging projects of all sizes. He thrives in the technical challenges presented by each project and his approach is to find simple, buildable and cost effective structural solutions that meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of the project whilst maximizing structural efficiency.
From 2000-2010, David worked at Winward Structures, joining as one of three initial employees at the company's inception in 2000 and overseeing the practice's growth to one of Melbourne's leading structural consultancies. David became Director in 2006 and CEO in 2009, making a significant contribution to all aspects of the business, before leaving the practice in October 2010. Major projects for which David was Project Director or team leader include the Melbourne Convention Centre, ANZ Victoria Harbour, Bourke Junction, 8 Exhibition St (Ernst & Young), Chevron Apartments and Flinders Wharf.

Complementing his structural engineering expertise, David’s ability to quickly form a high-level overview of a project and to identify and evaluate key priorities, risks and opportunities, enables him to lead the implementation of well-considered solutions and strategies to resolve complex issues. These capabilities were demonstrated in his design management role on the NAB D2 development at 700 Bourke Street for Cbus Property.
